Chun'an Distillery, China

We’re proud to highlight the successful delivery of the Chun’an Distillery for Angus Dundee Distillers PLC, located on Qiandao Lake, south of Shanghai.

Forsyths carried out the full process design in-house, covering malt intake, mashing, fermentation, distillation and tanker loading, including full safety studies carried out by Allen Associates. 

Working in collaboration with PM Group as EPCM, PRA Project for Research and Architecture and various local contractors, the project progressed from early discussions in 2023 to delivery by year-end 2025, including a three month commissioning period.

Designed and manufactured in Speyside, Scotland, by Forsyths and Northern Fabricators, the distillery’s core process equipment includes:

· 1 No 8-Tonne Malt Mash Tun made in sections and shipped out for assembly onsite.
· 2 No 20,000L Wash Stills
· 2 No 14,000L Spirit Stills
Along with all associated equipment.

Following shipment to China, Northern Fabricators’ team spent a month onsite, supporting installation and working closely with local contractors to bring the distillery together.

With pipework, vessels, malt intake systems and buildings supplied locally, Chun’an Distillery stands as a strong example of international collaboration, combining Scottish distilling capability with a local supply chain.
