Job Purpose
We are looking to recruit an APPRENTICE DRAUGHTSPERSON to join our team.
As an Apprentice Draughtsperson you will be part of a 5 year competence based scheme comprising of on and off the job training. The scheme is run in conjunction with University of Highlands & Islands. You will be working with both 2D AutoCAD and 3D SolidWorks software packages to produce engineering drawings and models. You will develop skills with awareness of 3D visualisation and modelling alongside their core draughting skills.
Location could be in Rothes or Buckie site, and this may vary to meet the business needs.
Responsibilities
Learning and progressing towards achieving the following:
- Preparation of engineering drawings, using either AutoCAD or SolidWorks CAD software or by hand.
- Liaison with designated Project Engineer and QC, with regards to the production and approval of Layout, General Arrangement, Detail, Piping Isometric, Weld Map etc.
- Working drawings, calculations, sketches and sheet metal developments to a standard required by the workshop for manufacture.
- Site visits and liaisons with the client or their representative.
- Preparation of relevant documentation as required by ongoing contracts such as Material Traceability sheets (Piping & Structural Weld Datasheets), MIS’s, MTO’s, cutting lists, workshop sketches, document registers and transmittals.
- Issue of drawings / documents to the workshop for “construction” and to QC for “information” as per Process Map Pr4-01.
- Reproducing and printing drawings and documents as required.
- Incorporation of client’s comments or internal company alterations to existing drawings and documents as required.

The ideal applicant will have the following skills and qualifications:
- A practical aptitude for engineering & technology,
- Computer literacy
- Excellent team working skills
- Good communication skills
- Awareness of health & safety
- Ability to follow instructions
- Passionate and motivated
- National 5 or above in Maths, English and one from Physics, Graphic Communication, Craft Design or Technological Studies.
- Driving Licence preferred (or willing to work towards)
